On November the 13th 2014, the Barcelonan Local Consortium of the European project KiiCS (Knowledge Incubation in Innovation and Creation for Science) met for the last time. In this meeting, the activities developed in the city through the project were explained, as well as the results obtained up to the moment and the importance of the support given by the members of the Local Consortium.
The following members were present at the meeting: Inés Garriga, Creativity and Innovation director of the ICUB; Manel Guerrero, artistic responsible at Arts Santa Mònica; Sílvia Muñoz, CoNCA director, and Guillermo Santamaría, from Fundació Obra Social “la Caixa”. Melquíades Calzado, from the Innovation and Science Parks Unit of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), also attended the session.
Besides presenting the activities undertaken in the city during the three years of the project, at the meeting it was also emphasized the media impact of some of them, as well as the local collaborations initiated. At the end of the session, members of the Local Consortium shared their opinion on the outcomes and suggested future collaborations in order to keep on fostering the intersection of creativity, science and innovation.
KiiCS (Knowledge Incubation in Innovation and Creation for Science) is a three-year European Commission project led by the European network of science centres and museums, ECSITE. In Spain, the person in charge of the project is Gema Revuelta, professor at the Experimental and Health Sciences of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (CEXS-UPF) and Deputy Director of the Science Communication Observatory (OCC-UPF). Núria Saladié, journalist and MSc in Science Communication, also works for this project coordinating the activities locally.
