NERRI project on “Gray Matters”, a report commissioned by President Obama

graymattersThe European project NERRI (Neuroenhancement Responsible Research and Innovation), in which  the Science Communication Observatory from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (OCC-UPF) takes part, was mentioned in the last report of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues (Presidential Bioethics Commission) of the United States of America. This is an advisory panel constituted by some of the U.S.´ leaders in medicine, science, ethics, religion, law, and engineering. The Presidential Bioethics Commission advises the President Barack Obama on bioethical issues arising from advances in biomedicine and related areas of science and technology.

Special Eurobarometer on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), Science and Technology

eurobarometerSpecial Eurobarometer 401 Eurobarometer Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), Science and Technology published on November 2013 by European Commission reveals that 65% of the respondants stated  television as a main source of information for development in science and technology, followed by newspapers (33%) and websites (32%). Scandinavians and people in the Baltic region are more likely than central and eastern Europeans to turn to the Internet for information.

El OCC-UPF presenta el Toolkit Impact Assessment en la reunión del proyecto europeo PLACES

placesprDesde hoy y hasta el 12 de marzo tiene lugar la conferencia final del proyecto PLACES en Bremen (Alemania) con el título PLACES of Scientific Culture.  A modo de cierre se hablará sobre los principales resultados obtenidos y de las actividades realizadas, además de poner en común las recomendaciones y sugerencias de cara al futuro.

La participación clave del Observatorio de la Comunicación Científica (OCC-UPF) ha sido la de organizar y supervisar la elaboración del Toolkit for the Impact Assessment of Science Communication Initiatives and Policies, una caja de herramientas diseñada por 28 investigadores que sirve para evaluar el impacto que tienen las actividades, los centros y los museos de ciencia.
