KiiCS 2014: Two winning hacks of neuro-MHD presented at Sónar+D their developments

zachariasThe participants of the development residence given to two of the winning hacks at the neuro+Music Hack Day 2013 presented their results at the Sónar+D space inside of the famous electronic music festival in Barcelona. This grant for their technological and business growth has been organized by the Music Technology Group from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (MTG-UPF) and with the collaboration of Barcelona Activa and the company Starlab for business and technical assistance, respectively. The residence has been granted by the Science Communication Observatory (OCC-UPF) as part of the incubator activities of the European project KiiCS.

Now available all the information about Timothy Schmele’s Neurospaces, winner of the Phonos-KiiCS grant

IMG_3218The Neurospaces project, developed by Timothy Schmele, intends to sonorize the neuronal activity transforming brain recordings into an audio composition and mapping the sound through 3D techniques. The idea won the Phonos-KiiCS grant organized by the Scientific Communication Observatory from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (OCC-UPF) and Phonos Foundation, that looked for an artistic project of musical production that would bring together neuroscience and technology.

Música y neurociencia triunfan en el neuro Music Hack Day de Barcelona

SONAR_2013_HACK_ 014A las dos de la tarde del pasado jueves 13 de junio empezaba el primer neuro – Music Hack Day (neuro-MHD) de la historia. Durante 24 horas 100 hackers, neurocientíficos y músicos compitieron para desarrollar software, aplicaciones móviles, hardware o webs que relacionasen música y neurociencia.

Los participantes, llegados de todo el mundo, tenían a su disposición tecnología neurocientífica y fisiológica ya desarrollada y disponible en el mercado para relacionar música, señales del cerebro, interfaces cerebro-ordenador y otras señales fisiológicas ,y presentar al jurado el resultado de su trabajo.
