The European Commission (EC) has published the report Monitoring the evolution and benefits of responsible Research and Innovation The evolution of responsible Research and Innovation: the indicators report. This study is one of the main results of the Monitoring the evolution and benefits of Responsible Research and Innovation (MoRRI) project, which tracks the evolution and benefits of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in the European Union (EU) in its five dimensions: gender equality, scientific education, public commitment, ethics, and finally, open access.

This report identifies the indicators for the evolution of the RRI as well as its social, democratic, economic and scientific benefits. It also presents preliminary works to establish routes towards the application of impact indicators. It must be said that the data comes from previous projects, existing data sources such as Eurostat, qualitative research, bibliometric sources, higher education institutions and participants in science and society projects, among others.

In January the SUPER_MoRRI project begins: Scientific Understanding and Provision of an Enhanced and Robust Monitoring system for RRI.

SUPER_MoRRI is the continuation of the MoRRI project (2014-2018), which conceptualized and implemented the first RRI monitoring system in Europe. The SUPER_MoRRI project is based on MoRRI and continues its task, guaranteeing the continuous collection of data and its protection, as well as an extensive evaluation and improvement of the MoRRI indicators. The intention of SUPER_MoRRI is to go beyond the technical efforts of MoRRI and develop a better scientific understanding of the different and complex relationships between RRI policies and practices, as well as their social, democratic, economic and scientific implications. These theoretical advances, together with the collection of data, configure a more mature monitoring system with robust, realistic, responsible and easy to implement indicators. The MoRRI consortium has been complemented by SUPER_MoRRI with interdisciplinary agents and with experience in RRI.
