On Tuesday and Wednesday July 26-27th, the Studies Centre on Science, Communication and Society of Pompeu Fabra University (SCS-UPF) will be at the Social Impact of Science 1st Conference (SIS2016), celebrated in Barcelona during this whole week and organized by the Social Impact Open Repository and University of Barcelona.
On Tuesday July 26th, Núria Saladié from SCS-UPF will present results from a survey sent to former students of the Master’s programme in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication (UPF Barcelona School of Management). These results show students’ perceptions and expectations before starting the Masters’ programme, and compares them to their opinions once they completed their studies. This presentation will take place in the symposium “How to communicate scientific research results to society?” (3:00pm – 4:15pm) chaired by Angela Castrechini (University of Barcelona).
On the next day, Wednesday July 27th, Núria will present the European project HEIRRI in the interdisciplinary paper session P15 (6:00pm – 7:30pm). She will talk about the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and how its integration in the university education is being reflected on and interpreted within the HEIRRI project (Higher Education Institutions and Responsible Research and Innovation), a Horizon2020 initiative coordinated by CSC-UPF.
SIS2016 has contributions from the five following fields: Physics & Mathematics, Social Sciences & Humanities, Engineering, Information & Technology, Life Sciences, and Health & Pharmacy. There will be interdisciplinary activities encouraging a horizontal debate and serving as incubators of new initiatives.
