Welcome to the latest update from the ISEED project, where we are on a mission to shape the future of democracy and citizen participation. We are thrilled to share the exciting news of our recent highly successful meeting held in Barcelona on July 6th and 7th. Hosted by Gema Revuelta and Carolina Llorente from the Studies Center on Science, Communication and Society of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (CCS-UPF), this gathering marked a significant milestone in our transformative journey.

The core focus of the meeting was on examining the scalability of our project and engaging in stimulating discussions about the future of democracy. We had the privilege of hearing from Eleonora Montuschi and her team from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE), who presented thought-provoking scenarios for the future of democracy. These scenarios served as catalysts for valuable conversations with stakeholders, helping us identify opportunities to enhance citizen participation and foster spaces for constructive dialogue.

Building upon the insights gained from the meeting, we are excited to announce our upcoming National Workshops led by Adriana Dimova from ARC Foundation. Scheduled to take place in Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Uruguay, and Bulgaria in the autumn of 2023, these workshops will provide a platform for citizens, experts, and policymakers to come together and co-create recommendations for the future of democracy and citizen participation in science. Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved and be a part of this incredible initiative!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants who contributed their time, expertise, and dedication to the success of the meeting. It is through your collective efforts that we continue to make meaningful strides towards a more inclusive and participatory democratic system. Together, we are shaping the future and paving the way for positive change in our societies.

The ISEED project’s successful meeting in Barcelona has set the stage for a future where deliberative democracy thrives. Through engaging discussions, thought-provoking scenarios, and collaborative efforts, we are on track to transform the way citizens participate in shaping their democratic systems. Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved in the remarkable journey of the ISEED project!
