The HEIRRI project, a Horizon2020 initiative coordinated by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), features in the last edition of the European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN) magazine “the Business Innovator” as part of the article “The Responsible Response”. You can read it online via this link (edition called “Business Sans Frontières”).
The text consists of an interview to Gema Revuelta, the Coordinator of HEIRRI. She comments on the importance of introducing Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) into the curricula of higher education institutions with the aim to prepare the future generation of scientist, engineers and also entrepreneurs to have into account the needs, values and expectations of the society they thrive in. All in all, the interview tells how HEIRRI is relevant not only for universities, but also when thinking about the next generation of responsible entrepreneurs that is being trained.
The interview is part of the text “The Responsible Response”, an article dedicated to explain RRI and why is it relevant for businesses with an in-depth comment on the nature of companies and how being responsible can be aligned with business’s goals. The text reads “RRI is beneficial, even strategic, for businesses themselves”, and it goes on with:
“By adopting a responsible approach businesses can obtain competitive advantages such as cost reductions, sales and profit margins, risk reductions, improved relationships with investors looking for reduced-risk investments, increased attractiveness as an employer, better supply chain engagement, improved reputation and brand value, increased innovative capabilities, and better relationships with government, regulators and local communities, etc.”
The HEIRRI projects reaches towards the business sector with its internal “Business and Entrepreneurship Advisory Board” (BEAB), formed by industry representatives. HEIRRI has two more advisory boards: the Multidisciplinary Contents Council (MCC) and the Science Communication and Internationalisation Advisory Board (SCIAB). You can read more about them here.
