Imatge1New date for the next SuperMI! The second Spanish public debate about neuro-enhancement will take place at CosmoCaixa- Barcelona at 18:30h, on November the 13th. This field of research and innovation focused on improving cognitive capacities in healthy people (i.e., to have a better memory, to focus more, to calculate faster, etc), will be discussed globally. Get involved in this innovative debate and share your thoughts!

Moderated by Vladimir De Semir and Gema Revuelta, the event will count with the presentations from Casto Rivadulla (“What is neuro-enhancement. The neuro-modulation example“), Shira Knafo (“Research lines”), Anna Mura (“Neuro-enhancement and creativity”), Aureli Soria-Frisch (“Some applications. The Business view”) and Carmen Casado (“Legal frame of drugs and medical technologies”). They will talk about the opportunities and limitations of neuro-enhancement.

SuperMI is not just another neuro-enhancement conference. The event wants to know the citizens´ opinion, and that is why it will include an automatic and anonymous voting system in order find out the point of view of attendees regarding these technologies (on legal, ethical and economical issues). And of course, there will also be the opportunity to participate and talk with the speakers.

Entrance is free but with prior registration. Send an email to nerri@upf.edu to book a seat (limited capacity).

SuperMI is organized by the Science Communication Observatory from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (OCC-UPF) and CosmoCaixa from Fundació “la Caixa” in collaboration with the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT). This activity is carried out within the framework of the NERRI European Project (Neuro-Enhancement Responsible Research and Innovation), funded by the 7th Framework Programme from the European Commision. NERRI aims at guaranteeing that neuro-enhancement techniques will be developed having into account society’s values and expectations.

The event is coordinated in Spain by Gema Revuelta, professor at the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (CEXS-UPF) and deputy director of the OCC-UPF from the same university.
