Grup_2On 21th January the Scientific Communication Observatory of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (OCC-UPF) organized a formal event to consolidate the Local Consortium of the European project KiiCS (Knowledge incubation in innovation and Creation for Science) in Barcelona.

The entities that make up the Local Consortium are: Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB), Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRi), Institut Municipal d’Educació de Barcelona (IMEB), Barcelona Activa, Centre Arts Santa Mònica and Consell Nacional de la Cultura i les Arts (CONCA).

Local Consortium members, who are references of Barcelona’s society and culture, committed to maximize the promotion and the citizens involvement in art and science incubation actions. Representatives of these entities attended to the ceremony and defined their involvement in the KiiCS’s activities organized in Barcelona.

The activities organized by the OCC-UPF are focused on the intersection between music and neuroscience and are addressed to adults and to secondary school students. These actions are performed in collaboration with Music Technology Group (MTG), Synthetic Perceptive, Emotive and Cognitive Group (SPECS) -both from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra-, Phonos Foundation and Starlab Company.

Knowledge Incubation in Innovation and Creation for Science, KiiCS, is a 3 year European Commission-funded project led by ECSITE (European Network for Science Centres & Museums). KiiCS actions aim to strengthen the process of incubation between art and science through the creative interaction of people, and young scientists, to promote innovation.
